Hello. I’m Simon, a qualified proofreader. I can take on a wide range of tasks – your latest novel; the proposal you need to submit to your boss tomorrow morning; the medical dissertation you should have started long before now; your new blog about adventures with your Instagrammable dog, Fluffyplums…

Having gained an MA and an MSc, I have a good starting point for understanding a wide range of big words and technical stuff. I’ve worked as an office manager for a boutique department store since the start of the millennium (2000). During this time, I’ve written many very important letters, written copy for websites and customer newsletters, and the highly-informative weekly staff update. I’ve also been writing my own (unrelated) cider blog since 2013.

I can work with Word, PDF and other digital formats such as Excel, Adobe and Affinity. I can even use pens and pencils if you prefer to send paper copies. I have experience with WordPress, Magento and Shopify online platforms, and I’m happy to work directly within your Content Management System, checking links and device views.

I’ve gained proofreading qualifications from the Chartered Institute for Editing and Proofreading (previously the SfEP), and the Publishing Training Centre. I believe writing should allow the reader to flow and not stumble across the words, and I will explain as many amendments/suggestions as I can. If you don’t have your own style sheets (which help ensure consistency in your punctuation and terms), I can provide one for you to adopt, if you wish.

So, if you’re not sure that your writing is up to scratch (or sure that it’s not) for its intended purpose, get in touch.

Simon.

Yep, that’s me!
